Josephine Sindani, born in the aftermath of Sudan’s 1990 coup, has defied expectations and overcome challenges to emerge as a trailblazer. Raised by a resilient mother who navigated personal struggles and civil war, Josephine moved from Sudan to Nairobi, Kenya, and eventually settled in Canada.

Taking inspiration from her mother’s resilience, Josephine assumed the role of caregiver for her younger brothers during high school, enabling her mother to pursue a Master’s degree while supporting the family. Despite societal expectations for an African immigrant, Josephine embarked on an unconventional path, choosing a profession not traditionally associated with her background.

Josephine entered the male-dominated construction industry—a decision met with surprise and lack of support. Juggling her studies and raising two children, she transitioned from a subcontractor to a designer and lead contractor. At just 24, she accomplished notable projects, including renovating bathrooms for the Pan American Paralympic Games at the Sheraton Hotel and overseeing a substantial home renovation in Etobicoke South to name a few.

While facing setbacks, such as losing her initial development project, Josephine used failures as opportunities for growth. She invested in herself, undertaking courses in financial education, project management, estimating, and contract law. Over the years, she progressed to managing over 120 homes across Ontario, and multiple >100,000.00 projects but her success is not solely measured in monetary terms.

Josephine’s true passion lies in her dream of building affordable housing, aiming to make homeownership accessible to young Canadians. Despite challenges, she envisions creating sustainable communities with a focus on well-being and longevity, advocating collaboration with like-minded companies.

Currently, Josephine devotes her energy to volunteer work, particularly in underserved communities. Through her business, JS Group and her affiliation, she hopes to continue her commitment to social impact and community development, both locally and internationally.

Josephine is a member of CAWIC and is on the board of Directors for OBCA.

As a seasoned Executive Assistant with a passion for excellence, specializing in the construction industry. Committed to ensuring the smooth functioning of operations, I bring a wealth of experience in administrative roles and a deep understanding of the unique challenges within the construction sector.

In addition to my professional endeavors, I am also the driving force behind the non-profit organization “Liam Strong,” founded in honor of my son, Liam. Liam Strong collaborates closely with the John Tavares Foundation and SickKids Hospital, working towards raising awareness and support for individuals facing Cystic Fibrosis, a cause that holds a personal significance to our family.

I excel at training people, and at designing work processes and creating standardized work instructions, as well as higher level company procedural documents to facilitate expansion while limiting risk, and assuring customers of reliability. I am efficient in implementing project/change management and tracking tools, and creating systems for the existing management team to use for convenient oversight of the new processes put in place. I am also excellent at analyzing business processes for opportunities for improvement, and strategizing how to achieve those improvements in measurable steps, and implementing KPIs.

I am also an author, I’ve written an e-book Viral Ignorance available on Kindle and Kobo e-readers. It’s about how people tend to interact in hierarchies and the obstacles to organizational excellence that can be overcome with some knowledge of these tendencies.

I have 15 years of experience in the automotive manufacturing/assembly industry, I have seen the industry from many perspectives, playing various roles, and have had success under pressure, improving quality management systems during launches of new production lines, re-designing inspection plans for vehicle assembly plants when “de-rating” to reduce the number of units produced per day, and overhauling entire company operational processes to help them attain ISO certification.

My commitment to achieving operational excellence and quality assurance is unwavering, making me an invaluable asset in the realm of construction management consultancy.
